Lights have always fascinated me. The reflection of the sun through a glass of water and the sunshine shining through my window, illuminating a specific part of the apartment are some things that inspired me to experiment more with lights.
For “LIGHTS ON”, the idea was to create a film and take some photos using the lights of a projector. For the pictures, I wanted to hang the projector in the ceiling and use smoke to reflect the lights from above. It was a challenge, but it worked.
My role in this project was to ideate and plan the project as well as direct on set and edit the material.
I worked in collaboration with Ida Ippolito, both behind and in front of the camera and got help from Taavi Kaisen (Film Crew student and lights wizard) and Oliwer Carpman (Story Academy/Script student) to build the set and work the magic with the hazer for smoke.
